Cabinets Ordered!

On Tuesday, we ordered the cabinets for what will be our new kitchen! I (we) want our kitchen to be a blend of traditional elements (keeping in style with the house), but with a few modern touches to keep it young and fresh. I have always been in love with white shaker style-ish cabinets. So, the cabinets we ordered fit that style. They are solid maple with a white painted finish. It will take about 3-4 weeks for the cabinets to arrive. I can't wait to show you the end result. But in the meantime, here are a couple "before" pics of the kitchen.

These cabinets were probably installed sometime in the 1950's or so. While they are still in fairly good condition, we want to expand the cabinets and countertop to wrap all the way around the kitchen. Hence, a kitchen remodel. We don't need an eating area in the kitchen because we have a dining room and we are going to turn the 3 seasons porch off the kitchen into an eat-in area.

BONUS - We have already started purchasing some of the other elements of the kitchen. Here is a picture of 1 of the light fixtures for our new kitchen. Bought at Restoration Hardware Outlet at about 60% off the original price. It will hang in the center of the ceiling. This picture shows Joey holding it up to the ceiling in our apartment so that I could better visualize it in the space (I have visualization problems).

We've also already bought distressed hickory hardwood flooring for the kitchen. Got it from Lumber Liquidators at a great discount. They're gorgeous.

You can see a sample here.
