It's Here!

The countertop that is! And it looks beautiful!

If you remember from this post a few weeks ago, we selected a Silestone Quartz countertop in the color "grey expo". Well, it has finally been installed, and what a world of difference it makes in the kitchen.

But first, the before pictures.

Here is a shot of the fake, plywood countertop we've been using the last few months...

...including a cheap stainless steel sink and faucet.

And there was no countertop by the stove...

The counter was installed today in a couple of sections...

And this machine suctioned everything together. You can't even see the seams...

And here is the finished product. Look at all that space!

Stove-side (new stove + microwave to come)...

The lower open space on the sink-side of the kitchen is where our dishwasher will go. We may have that as early as Monday...

Our beautiful porcelain sink was also installed today...

And then Joey hooked up our faucet...

Here's a shot of the corner edge of the counter. We went with the simplest edge possible. It's square along the sides but has round corners - just in case you bump into it (which my clumsy self is likely to do)...

I could just stare at this picture all day long. There are additional upper cabinets that are going to be installed along the walls and above the fridge. More on that later.

So, what do you think? Beautiful, right?!

To come: more painting, more cabinets, cabinet hardware, back splash, appliances, decorating... the list goes on and on. But it's much closer to completion. And that makes me one happy cook!

Psst... if you want to see what the original kitchen looked like, click here. Pin It

  2. Am in the process of installing the Grey Expo above white Ikea cabinets. I love your kitchen and ideas and hope my countertops will look as great as yours! Thanks for posting.

  3. Does your quartz counter have a "laminated" edge to make it thicker? Or is it one solid piece? If there's a seam on the edge it looks flawless! I've been searching everywhere for a photo of grey expo installed. Thank you!
